Lush Linen Blanket
A unique blanket with yarns of silky soft linen and hand spun special wools grown in New Zealand.
Most of this piece is woven with lush chunky Italian linen. I have added inserts of hand spun NZ wool that has been dyed with indigo, weld and cochineal, these are some of my favourite yarns to weave. The wools are sourced from the Hokianga and the plants used for the dyeing have been been grown there. The warp is a mix of soft linen and pure silks in white and off white shades.
This weave has a rich, heavy, and soft feel—perfect for keeping warm and draping beautifully. Linen loves to be used and with time this blanket will get softer and more beautiful.

Care
I wash each piece as soon as it leaves the loom. This evens up the fibres, cleans them and fluffs them up to look their best. Your weaving doesn't need excessive washing, wool is great for repelling dirt and moisture. To wash, by hand gently, a non chemical liquid works best, then a quick spin around the washing machine to get out the excess water or roll in a towel. Give the weaving a shake and gently pull the fibres across the width of the weaving. Hang in the breeze over a towel on the line until dry... Easy!!
Rolling up your weaving to travel or store will prevent and remove creases.
Word to the wise...
If you ever catch any of the fibres, gently pull the weaving widthwise and the fibres will disappear back into the fabric...
