Blanket with Plant Dyes
Plant dyed awapara wool yarns with fine merinos woven together in the stunning pātikitiki or birds eye design. A perfect single throw size, or wear it as a statement piece!
I have dyed these soft awapara yarns with eucalyptus leaves and coreopsis flowers, the leaves are sourced from Northland and the dried flowers from Growing Textiles NZ. There's a strip of raspberry hand spun wool dyed with cochineal (Hokianga), some black alpaca and a block of caramel hand spun. The warp is fine merino yarns in black, brown and rich reds.
super soft and warm wool feels, this blanket is suitable for your couch or bed or to wear. Woven in a birds eye or pātikitiki design with some tabby which is plain weave.

Care
I wash each piece as soon as it leaves the loom. This evens up the fibres, cleans them and fluffs them up to look their best. Your weaving doesn't need excessive washing, wool is great for repelling dirt and moisture. To wash, by hand gently, a non chemical liquid works best, then a quick spin around the washing machine to get out the excess water or roll in a towel. Give the weaving a shake and gently pull the fibres across the width of the weaving. Hang in the breeze over a towel on the line until dry... Easy!!
Rolling up your weaving to travel or store will prevent and remove creases.
Word to the wise...
If you ever catch any of the fibres, gently pull the weaving widthwise and the fibres will disappear back into the fabric...
