Gentle Wrap

This wrap is woven in some gorgeous yarns. I have been doing some plant dyeing lately and have included soft polwarth yarns dyed with gorse flowers, tanekaha bark and lichen in this piece. These have given a lovely pale clear yellow and soft brown shades. Also blocks of pale yellow and grey pure linen. Great size for wearing and draping in your home.

Soft wool and linen feels, the width varies on this piece. The mix of cotton and linen in the warp and the wool yarns make a fine to medium weight textile.

Width – 69-76cm
Length – 193cm plus hand twisted tassles.

I wash each piece as soon as it leaves the loom. This evens up the fibres, cleans them and fluffs them up to look their best. Your weaving doesn't need excessive washing, wool is great for repelling dirt and moisture. To wash, by hand gently, a non chemical liquid works best, then a quick spin around the washing machine to get out the excess water or roll in a towel. Give the weaving a shake and gently pull the fibres across the width of the weaving. Hang in the breeze over a towel on the line until dry... Easy!!

Rolling up your weaving to travel or store will prevent and remove creases.

Word to the wise...

If you ever catch any of the fibres, gently pull the weaving widthwise and the fibres will disappear back into the fabric.
