Prem Tyler Handweaving
I create handwoven textiles from fibres farmed and spun in New Zealand – each piece is unique – woven on a wooden floor loom and finished by hand. I mix colour, yarn, pattern, design and my own magic into this ancient textile practice.
My studio is at home at Maraetai Beach in Auckland, New Zealand.

Weaving and Workshops
The Weaving
Each weaving is unique and has its own distinctive mix of pattern, yarn, size and colour.
Wraps can be worn by anyone and vary in length and width depending on the fibres and inspiration at the time.
Capes hang from and wrap around the shoulders and are a great statement piece on their own. They can be worn all year round, versatile and individual textiles, you may need more than one....
Shifts are longer versions of the cape with way more weaving to play with! They are looser fitting and hang from the shoulders and can be styled in loads of different ways.
Blankets are made in two or three pieces, then sewn together by hand making any dimensions possible. I mainly make these to order so if you'd like a larger piece of weaving for your bed, couch, or to wrap around yourself please contact me and we can talk about colours and textures.
My Workshops
I teach 2 Day Loom Weaving workshops a few times a year to small groups in West Auckland. Also I'm available to come to you for Personal Accelerator workdays suited to individuals already on their weaving journey – check out my Workshops page for more details.
