Prem Tyler Handweaving
I create handwoven textiles from fibres and yarns farmed, grown and spun in New Zealand and around the world – each piece is unique – woven on a wooden floor loom and finished by hand. I mix special yarns, colour, pattern, design and my own magic into this ancient textile practice.
My studio is at home at Maraetai Beach in Auckland, New Zealand.
If you are interested in a weaving commission please ask - prem@premtylerhandweaving.nz or use the form on my contact page.
Weaving and Workshops
The Weaving
The hand weaving process that I use means that each weaving is very unique. I use special natural yarns to make my textiles, and they are a distinctive mix of designs and traditional patterns, colours and sizes.
Wraps useful and styley textiles that are warm and look fabulous, everyone can wear a wrap! They vary in size, my larger wraps are perfect for draping around your home and furniture.
Shifts hang from and wrap around the shoulders and are a great statement piece on their own. Wearable all year round, versatile and
individual textiles, you may need more than one....
Blankets are made in one, two or three pieces, then sewn together by hand making any dimensions possible. I love to make these to order, if you'd like a larger piece of weaving for your bed, couch, or to wrap around yourself please contact me and we can talk about what is possible for yarns, colours and textures.
